Students will often ask if Collaborate recordings can be converted to MP4s so that they can download them.  

Step-by-step guide


  1. Log into Sakai
  2. Navigate to the course in which the Collaborate recordings reside.
  3. Click on the Collaborate Tool from the Left Hand menu
  4. Click on the Recordings Tab
  5. Click the Purple Double Arrow Icon
  6. A new browser window will pop up.  Close this or ignore it.
  7. On the original window, there will now be a dialogue box with the words "Recording Conversions"
  8. Click on "Start Conversion"
  9. It takes about 24 hours for the video to convert.
